TA:
Dayna Jaeger in Math Help Room M W F 11-12 Required Text: Precalculus, 10th ed. WITH web assign by Larson. Prerequisite:
Three years of high school mathematics and an appropriate score on the
Mathematics Placement Test or completion of MATH 1100 or MATH 1110 with a grade
of B or better. Description:
Precalculus is intended to provide students with the essential
mathematical background needed to succeed in calculus.
The topics addressed include: When possible, problems will be approached from graphical,
numerical, and algebraic representations. The
different representations and how they are related to each other will be
discussed throughout the course. A
graphing calculator is required and will be used to interpret the geometric
representations of functions and in problem solving. Goals and objectives of the course: Students will be able to: Grades:
Grades for this course will be based upon homework, quizzes, tests, and a
comprehensive final exam; some of the quizzes may be unannounced. Items for both will come from the assigned homework.
The following grading scale will be used to determine grades: Make-ups are not allowed for missed quizzes, instead I will
allow you to drop your lowest score. All
tests will count toward your final grade. The instructor reserves the right to adjust the grading scale
if necessary. Working through the assigned problems is essential to
learning mathematics. Showing your
work is the only way to receive partial credit; hence it is very important on
quizzes and exams. Students with Special Needs Student Rights and Responsibilities Student Code of Ethics Student Academic Rights and Responsibilities Daily Course Outline Introductions and pre-requisites
