I was born and raised in southern Minnesota. I graduated from New Ulm High School and went to St. Cloud State University where I earned a B.S. in mathematics education. While at SCSU I was active in the residence halls and played on the men's volleyball club. I then taught high school mathematics for four years, coached, and continued to play volleyball. While teaching I earned my master's degree from South Dakota State University in educational administration. I then went to the University of Minnesota where I earned a PhD in mathematics education.
I am now back in the teaching world at Bemidji State University in northern Minnesota. I teach mathematics and mathematics education courses to undergraduate and graduate students at our university. Since moving to Bemidji I have continued to play volleyball, got married to Kerry in 2004. We had a son (Ben) in 2006 and daughter (Greta) in 2008. Here is a picture of Kerry and I with our God-daughter Kyla Borgendale. ;-)
I currently reside near Bemidji, Minnesota. Kerry and I live near a small lake which is the background for this page. Kerry is a "retired" elementary school teacher who has become a nurse. We were married September 25th, 2004.
I continue to be active playing and coaching volleyball. I work with the Bemidji State University women's volleyball team as a volunteer and fan. Here are some volleyball pics:
