Constitutionalism - Constitutionalism is the notion that governments are bound by the fundamental laws of the land.  That is, even governments and public officials must answer to the rule of law.  No one is above the law.  While this notion goes back at least to the Romans, its significance is very current.  Every time one of our politicians are accused of scandal, people are invoking the fundamental ideas of constitutionalism.
